Monster on the Loose

Two brave souls venture forth into the wild jungle home of Mommy Roze's habitat to see if they can find the infamous Mommy Roze Monster roaming there.

"We found it!!!"

" Crawl for you lives!!"

Painting Progress

Melanie's bedroom is only just barely noticeably purple anymore, as the primer has reduced it's former "vigor" to only a lingering glimmer. If all goes as scheduled Melanie will be sleeping and playing in her room again on Sunday, but the trim and windowsills would still need to be done. Can't wait 'til she gets it back again...then I'll see what Nathan and Matthew's floor colour is again, and I'll, hopefully, have less fighting amongst my little children.

The ceiling and closet door (and inside the closet) have received the first coat of paint, and should, hopefully, get a second one this evening. Then for the walls!!

Three kids napping in one room doesn't happen (not in my house anyways). So Nathan is out on the couch today. He doesn't always sleep anymore--but is forced to remain quiet AND removed from my glorious presence for the duration of an hour. He still sleeps 25-50% of the time (depending on sicknesses, busyness, and growth spurts). YAY for naptime!

Weather update:
We've had tonnes of snow here lately. Isn't it just fabulous!! Our chain link fence is almost buried in snow again that I've shoveled onto it in order to keep the driveway clear. And flakes are falling again! Best of all, it isn't windy!!!!

Simulated Supermom

My new job description is Simulated Supermom. I'm feeling rather simulated tonight. There must be something artificial in the air. The "super" part of me has become "sadder" instead. Alas. I have my down times.

I confess:

I am a mere mortal after all.

Daddy had to come to the rescue and take the children away from the volatile Simulated Supermom before any damage on the precious bundles could be inflicted.

Unfortunately he didn't relieve supermom of all three at once. Alas! Alack!! I am left to wonder why my baby feels that shoving toys in my face is appreciated? A holiday would be more like it...some space somewhere where he can't reach my pant legs for at least an hour. Perhaps even the luxury of an entire day.

Sympathy for my problem is not heartfelt, I suspect.

Back at the rescue scene that is in charge by Diligent Daddy there is the problem of a double request.

Sorry, you loose Melanie! It's not fair being a female in this house, I tell you!

Diligent Daddy durst discontinue de discord.

Oh Baby!

The kids didn't drag me out of my bed even once last night, so to celebrate, I thought I'd treat you all with a brief stint of sentimentality about my soon to be not-baby.

There are no perfect words to describe Matthew. I think that nerd, stinker and pest do a pretty inadequate job, but they do convey 5.973% of the image of him in my mind, at least. Often he reminds me of BOTH of his J... cousins...which makes him even more adorable for sentimentality reasons too.

Someone mentioned that he's thinning out. I guess he must be on a pretty tough exercise regime: he balks at anything to do with babies (except beating up on babies, and cuddling with Mommy) so I guess he thought it was time to loose some baby fat.

He walks around furniture with ease now, and manages to keep his feet and body moving fast enough to keep up with the "walker".

Soon I will have no babies left.
*sniff*

Only toddlers.

THREE toddlers.

*panic!!*

What's your favorite show?

"You're watching Treehouse"
"You're watching Neighbours"

Only with a combination of great yelling, stomping and funny noises could their eyes be unglued from the big screen.

No rest for the wicked

Maybe there is a downside to winter after all.
Could that be possible?
After getting up approximately every two hours for one kid or other all night, and after having poor nights many other past nights I am beginning to wonder.
Is there something more to the words "cold season" than the brrr part of cold?

Let me paint a beautiful picture of life as a zombie mom.

I can not seem to find the original reason why I was so excited when Matthew learned to stand himself up. Where could the enthusiasm have originated from? I am at a loss. All it has resulted is trouble. When I am working he is hanging on my pants, and sudden movements in any direction results in disaster. When I am working and he is not around, there is sure to be disaster of another kind when I investigate to see why he is so busy.

Nathan and Melanie have been having contests to see who can make their throat sound the sorest(Melanie is the only one who has a real sore throat.). Sounds like a frog concert at times...but a very poor one. I wonder why they can find it so very amusing.

Every time I go into the bathroom I am startled by the severe look I receive. What have I done to deserve such a glare?

Wonderful White Winter

Our snowbanks have gotten quite tall due to my faithful plowing and plentiful snow falling. That's actually the second time this year that it went over the fence by the shed. Hopefully this time it won't melt so much that I can see the GRASS (that would be horrible) again. Isn't it just lovely?

Three fans of the snow
are below.

(Well, maybe only the first two.)

The Curse on the Substitute Mailman

Seems like every time there is a mailman that is doing our route, and is not our regular mailman, he gets stuck. There is a meddlesome manhole that catches them every time they slip a little too far to the right, and they can't get out without the help of a trusty tow truck. Philip even offered his help to the very first stranded mailman. The second one didn't get the offer 'cause Philip wasn't there to give it...poor guy. Not that the first guy accepted the help anyways...nor would it have done anything useful...

Can't wait 'til the next time our mailman calls in sick or takes a holiday!!
I think I'm a bit sadistic. :o

We want to come too!

Goal: Four plane tickets from Toronto (Lester B. Pearson International) to Edmonton and back again
Price: $200 each (plus fees)
When: Including July 31st, 2009 preferably with a stay of 1 to 1.5 weeks.
Who: Two adults, two children over two, and one infant under two who does not require a ticket (I'll let you guess all the names ;) )

If the above can not be found there will be some

disappointed

left behind

children
(and their too father of course--but his disappointments are less verbal, and thus easier to handle).

Any hints or suggestions on how to get the aforementioned good deals without using airmiles or aeroplan points would be vastly appreciated!

Alternatively, purchasing the tickets for us would also be considered acceptable. (Har dee har har)

My sister in law suggested signing up for the West-Jet newsletter to get their latest deals and sales...which I have now done under a falsified account (cackle cackle).

For lack of a big enough pumpkin shell

My man certainly has troubles. Every evening that he is obliged to leave me unattended, he designs a time consuming "all-important" project or two to keep me busy.

This is all an attempt to keep me out of trouble in his absence.

Note the hunted look he has in his eye as he comes in on a late night to check up his wife.

Generally speaking, the project itself, and the amount of work done or not done, has little or no importance at all. This evening's project was scraping and sanding walls and doors to prep a room for painting.

I'm not sure if there ever is anything I can do without avoiding trouble.
*cackle cackle*

Play Day

The hardest thing to do all day
Is to figure out a way
To keep the dreadful
Terrible tearful
Boredom away.

So what can we do?

Spend some time with Pooh?

Or eat a pot of honey?
(Now that would be funny)

If only my only problem was boredom!

Dalmation Steps

Up the ladder of success we go.
Up to disaster and trouble we go.

I can't assume Matthew stays downstairs anymore! I was hanging a load of laundry and keeping "half an eye" on him. Well, Melanie informed me he was going up the stairs, and he was conquering the last step of the long series of 10ish, and ready for the last four.

Oh--and Dalmations? Well...I'm at 101 posts, that's all.
Congratulations me! (me is short for mommy roze)

Somebody is making more noise then snoring...time to investigate and release some of my bottled up wrath (of which I have plenty to spare).

Sharing the work load.

The type of help available to me for drying the floor after I have mopped is of a diverse quantity. The degree of intelligence in relation to the methods chosen is not as wide--I think they all chose very wisely.

Nathan's skills and usefulness were very impressive. He even looked for shiny (that is; wet) spots on the floor, and slowly and steadily plowed over them. He was probably accurately imitating one of the many snowplows we've seen lately.

Melanie, however, did not want to strain her back too much. She thought a better approach would be let the towel trail along behind her. That way she could run if she wanted, and watch it move around behind her.

Matthew thought he'd worked hard enough keeping off of the floor while I had been mopping it. It was very traumatizing for his sensitive young mind, and I believe he thought it was time for a free ride, which he combined with a spiteful bought of hair pulling.

And which method would you choose?

Bitter Disappointment for You

There is actually no Mommy911. Only in my imagination. But a friend, or two, or helpful enemy even, will do just as well, if not better in an emergency. And they're generally free. ;)

I have, now that we've been here a while, a mental list of 4 and more (depending on the situation) of people to call if necessary.
Why?
AM I PARANOID?

Picture this:
Husband at work.
Two toddlers solely under your responsibility.
Van broken down.
Power out.
Snowstorm.
Labour contractions starting--with no definate end time: baby could arrive in an hour (or less) or in a few days.

The above scenario (almost all imagined) played in my mind very very vividly less than a year ago...so ever since then I've had mini back up plans.

AM I paranoid?

Don't Rock the Boat!

MAN OVERBOARD!!

Oh wait...
it was just a toy.

Not that Melanie cares either way.

Someone is just too cool to smile...or just totally bored with the whole camera thing.
Which is odd.
I rarely ever have the camera out...

Just what is her brother doing?
I wonder about that a lot too...

Here's our redneck in training...he's too young for a real stogie, unfortunately.
I think he's got the facial expression down pat.

Had you the Stomach Flu?

As I'm not particularly beautiful when I'm sick, I thought Matthew would make a better main subject for my photo shoot.

But I am still around...this picture was taken last night...
when I was mostly over it...

Yesterday morning I was laying of the floor, the kids were crawling all over me, and I was paralyzed by the thought that it was only 8:30am...naptime was another 4 or 5 hours away. I called Mommy911--emergency home babysitting services. I am ever so grateful, as I got to crawl back into bed until Philip came back home--which he did early just for me (and to relieve the emergency babysitting services).

Today I did all my regular morning work, just a little more slowly than normal. And I feel fabulous. I think I'll take it a bit slow for a while yet.

Don't take your health for granted!!
I won't anymore...
for a while.
