Produce

I had been unnecessary worried that everything in the gardens would be too dry when we got back.

Actually there was powdery mildew instead.

There was plenty of produce to harvest when we got back, even though two ladies came while we were gone and helped themselves.

Zucchini recipes to share anyone?

No more buying tomatoes and dukes. ;)

And we picked up 7 ready to lay chickens to join our 7 birds. They were ready to lay!!

Destination C,BC

 Five days on my own, I dashed out to BC.

 Started the trip by going biking with two of my sisters.

 Did a quick boating trip. (Followed by a much longer one in better weather later.)

 Walked on a canal trail and spent time with family close and extended.

 Checked out my nephew's digs and other things around the place.

 Enjoyed unlimited cherries (and eggs and cucumbers).

 Enjoyed unlimited nephew and niece time. :)

 Watched a few of them rip around on various cool motors (wouldn't my own just love a turn?)

 Now this sandbox is big enough for lotsa projects!

 Don't forget the dirtbike!

Oh yeah...and the wedding I came down for was great too. So glad I could make it!

PEI Cottages

 You know you are almost in PEI when you are on the really long bridge.

 You know your mother forgot to take good pictures when all she has is pics of kids in bed.

 Jennifer and Evelyn didn't like sharing a bed, so they split up and took turns on the floor.

 We had our own private deck with chairs galore.

 And our own private beach (which was great if you don't like waves, and don't mind or notice the snails and weeds).

 Kayaks galore and a canoe too!

 The kids made sure they tried them all out!

 Cousins to play with

 Lawn games to try out

 Competition to beat

 Sunsets to enjoy

 Fires to sit around

 Smores to sample

 Marshmallows to roast (real ones this time)

Bay of Fundy

 When we arrived, the tide had been going down again for at least 30 minutes.

 We watched the rocks along the water line and observed how quickly the water was moving down. Pretty fast actually!

 And there was a pile of rocks on the side to climb (feels just like home. :p )

 Back at the campsite Evelyn cooked up some marshmallows.

 We got a fire blazing...payed an exorbitant amount for the park's special kiln dried and bug free wood. On a plus side, it did come with a handy little Firestarter packet.

 Food again. On a table, condiments galore. Yummy!

 Getting close to low tide we went to the beach at Alma again to see how far the water went down. We were flabbergasted!

 In hindsight, we shouldn't have taken off our sandals before heading to the water's edge. After the first bit of sand there were a lot of barnacles to walk through.

 Wow, I think we will have to walk all the way over there!

 Still walking...if the approach to the water wasn't so shallow, that might have saved us a bit of walking (not that we mind after all that driving!)

 Made it! It's another 20 minutes 'til official low tide though.

 It sure is moist around though, see all the clouds along the hillside? There's a lot of moss growing along the hills!

 Looking back up to the beach...it looks far away. It is far...took 5 minutes or more to run back after!

 I guess fishing and boating is complicated by the extreme tides! Look how low the boat is at low tide!

 Saturday morning we had a hike planned. It was a nice trail, with the very occasional glimpse at the coast between the trees. Lots moss.

 At the end was water! Not so far to walk to because the tide was almost in again. We hoofed it on the way back, and were amazed by Evelyn and Jennifer's speed in walking and keeping up. Chattering the whole way too, mind you!

 And back one more time at the beach in Alma. Note the pile of rocks? High tide again, with the usual large amount of mist and cloud.

We are packed up and are heading off to our next destination: cottages in PEI.
