Early Oct 2020

Matthew loved having a formal science experiment with his school work!
He did a great job. He did a great job!
The school table is always covered.  Sigh. And often the floor.  Sigh!
Nathan has a big project planned to finish before winter. Chains for tractor, add a plow=cleared driveway for cheap!
I moved my asparagus.  Maybe it'll grow and I can eat some.  Some year soon.
At least some things grew. Not sure if that is a pumkin-zinni or what. Cancer zucchini and pumpkin cross pollinate?
Finally Jennifer did the treasure hunt Daniel made for her, and found the birthday present he made early but wasn't allowed to ship to BC and back for the special day.
Fun in the fall leaves.
Raking up big piles
The "workers". I did steal their leaf piles a few weeks later for a leaf mold,  but that's not why they raked it. ;)
Why not bike into the piles!

Melanie made a rather sketchy zipline.  Using leftover and unused clothesline materials.
Fall colours!
Evelyn started on the computer this year.
And the boys got to try electronics.
Such brightness! Amazing!

Late Sept, 2020 School starts

So we started up on school the next week.  Lightly. Enough said.
Our chickens were in excellent health when we got back. But they sound so funny! Compared to the other chickens we had.
Being finished school means we can play!
So what I read about was...
Melanie is done too early and waiting for company...is anyone else done?
Evelyn working hard.
Our garden had a few good things to eat yet, despite the light frost.
Lunch outside.  Working from home has perks!
Matthew's latest lego project.
Nathan making sure the bikes at home are in order.
Evelyn likes having her own desk.
We took our bikes on the trailer and checked out a forest trail.
Planning a painting.
Working on a painting.
A heat wave. Time to swim!
Jump in...and scramble out. It's cold!
Chemistry set is here.  Yay?

Sept 19, 20 2020, Welcome home

Oh, yah! All our stuff!
Remember this?
Unpacking, etc.

Trailer is empty!

Weeds sure grew when we were gone! Evelyn was happy to ride a bike she can fit!!
Matthew took care of the grass for me.
Oh, yah. Homeowners again.
Yay. Home.

Sept 18, 2020 Home!

We had really hoped to take a different route home. Via Tobermory. But the cold weather changed our minds. And all the extra regulations on the ferry, helped us decide to race home today. Looking forward to a warm house!
Last time of packing up! Yes, we are chilly as usual. No playground this time.
Before the race, we checked out some hieroglyphs that were just back a few km from our site.
Nice old colours. They are very old pictures.
These ones included canoes!
A few clearer ones.
Access was a bit sketchy.  Not all the kids wanted to go to the end. Especially after all the warning signs.  Apparently big waves can take you by surprise. None today!

Ontario!

Interesting access to the hieroglyphs.
More road. More lakes.
Traffic! Must be getting closer.
The last day of driving doesn't hold much interest for us.
How much longer?
More small towns. Not near yet.
So done with driving.
More highway. We have seen this stretch for most of our camping trip drives. Sooo long to go, it seems!

But we made it home safely! We drove over 9000 kms this trip. Our van made it over the 1 000 000 somewhere in the prairies on the return trip, I believe.  So strange to be back in a cold empty house. But fun to see how the gardens and chickens are doing. Amazed that we made it. Thankful.
