Camping preparations

The week before camping requires a lot of preparations. But not everyone is always busy with helping! (Don't worry, they did lend a hand most of the time!)

Food has to be packed, carefully measured and categorized for each day.
Melanie liked doing the food (uh...what do we do if the candy falls on the floor? Should I just eat it?) especially meals that she enjoys eating.

If Jennifer sees me with the camera out, she rarely fails to ask me for her picture to be taken.
Before we leave for two weeks the gardens need to be in ship shape.
It was a wet year, and our potatoes were not looking so good. First just a few spots, and then the whole plants started sagging and shriveling.
I wasn't sure they'd last for two weeks, so time to take them out!
Nathan was a faithful weeder, and did a great job on the beets.
Even those carrots that were drowning in weeds and overcrowded were tackled a half row at a time.
The potato collectors and sorters were hard at work.
Funny how almost everyone was interested in that job instead of wanting to do the weeding!
 Don't miss any!
So, despite the fact that they had to be pulled up way too early, we still had a decent crop to show for it. We especially liked eating them boiled with melted butter, as the skins were still nice and soft.

Scrub

Would you like to play a game of scrub?
 Evelyn would rather watch.
Nathan and Daniel warm up while everyone one else gets ready.
We picked up a real bat the other day! We agreed that it works way better than a stick.

Three Years of Aging

If you've been reading my blog faithfully over the years, you'll remember this picture! We were shopping at MEC before our annual camping trip.
This year we frequented the same spot and so I couldn't refrain from shooting the same pose.
Alas, it didn't turn out worthy of being a background photo. But it's worth looking at just to note the changes. In three years, kids change a lot! (Especially when it's half their lifetime or more!)
